At the Royal Variety Charity's Annual General Meeting, held at St. Paul's Church in Covent Garden on Friday, 20th June 2025, Giles Cooper was awarded the title Honorary Life-President of the Royal Variety, by Former Life-President, Laurie Mansfield.
The honorary title as the Royal Variety’s leader and figurehead, was awarded to Laurie by the previous Life-President, Lord Bernard Delfont, as it’s the Constitutional gift of the previous Life-President to bestow the title onto whomsoever he chooses.
Laurie has chosen our elected Chairman, Giles Cooper OBE, to receive the title and so from now on Giles’ full title will be ‘Chairman & Life-President’.
We wish Laurie a very happy retirement and hope that he’ll continue to assist the charity, in an ad hoc advisory capacity, using his invaluable 60 years of experience in show business and television.
