On Thursday, 3rd September, Brinsworth House resident, Hazel Kaye, celebrated her 100th birthday with a spectacular day.
The day began when Royal Variety Life-President, Giles Cooper OBE, presented Hazel with a card that had arrived from Buckingham Palace, sending the 'warmest congratulations and heartfelt good wishes' from our Patron, His Majesty The King, and Her Majesty The Queen.
Lunch in the garden was followed by the arrival of Brigadier General Jonathan Bouchard (Defence Advisor for Canada in the UK), from the Canadian High Commission, who presented Hazel with a second card, saying that it came with the grateful thanks of the Canadian people and the entire Canadian Armed Forces for her sterling efforts duging the Second World War, entertaining Canadian troops across Europe.
The presentation of Hazel's 100th birthday cake was followed by a wonderful performance by the 'Ukaye Ukes', fronted by Hazel's son, the legendary Kaplan Kaye! Hazel even took to the mic to deliver what was the most incredible vocal performance!
It was a wonderful joyous day to celebrate the birthday of one of our most cherished residents.
