Lady Sheila Butlin 1927-2016 RIP

4th February, 2016

It is with great sadness that we confirm the news that one of our Life-Governors (and Vice-Presidents), Lady Sheila Butlin, died peacefully at her home in Jersey on Saturday 30th January, aged 89.

Born as Sheila Devine, she moved to Jersey with Billy Butlin in 1968. The couple married in 1975. While living in Jersey they became active members of St John's parish community life and donated land for a community centre to be built and in 2015 Lady Butlin opened the newly-refurbished St John recreation centre. Sir Billy, who died in Jersey in 1980, aged 80, opened his first holiday camp in 1936 and turned the idea into a multi-million pound leisure industry. Lady Butlin contributed a great deal to our charity over the years and will be sorely missed.

Please find below details for her funeral service:-

St John’s Parish Church, St John, Jersey JE3 4AF on Thurs 11th Feb @ 11.30.AM
